Black and white photography can seem almost timeless in an age where everything seems to change so fast. Although gloss finishes on photographs are all the rage, they can look a little too reflective under photo frame glass. With a black and white print choose a matte finish whenever possible. If you are attaching or inserting the photo into the announcement it won’t look as out of place if the finish matches the card stock.

A black and white birth announcement is the perfect frame for the black and white photograph. Whether the card is white with black text or a black card with white text, the complete lack of color can be quite sophisticated. Be sure to choose a font that stands out without looking like too much. A bold Helvetica or Arial font can work well.

Go with a stiff heavy card stock for your black and white birth announcement. This gives both physical as well as emotional weight to the card and reinforces the idea that this announcement is forever, a quality keepsake of your child’s life.
