The Birth Announcement Banner

Blogs really are a response to the real world however much the anti-Internet folks would like to have us believe otherwise. I have spent the last couple of weeks looking for someone to put grommets (you know the ring doo hicks on the corners to hold the ropes) on a few banners I ordered when they were on sale. It’s all about the cheapest way to go with me. But birth announcement banners are quite an affordable way to go these days and talk about a multi-use birth announcement.

The custom printed banner comes in a number of sizes and color schemes to suit every new parent’s budget. The only possible drawback to choosing the smallest most economical announcement banner is there may not be enough space for all of your important baby related information.

The birth announcement banner should contain at a minimum the name of the child. A nice “welcome Charlie” can be cute but a little uninformative. To make it a true birth announcement you need to get the birth statistics on there somewhere. Think about placement as well as using different fonts to get all the information you want on the banner without overcrowding. A good idea is to place the child’s name in the center in a larger font then use the four corners of the banner to present birth statistics in a smaller font.

When it comes to choosing the color for the birth announcement banner, think about how the banner will be used after the welcome home party or baby shower. If the plan is to hang the banner in the baby’s nursery, think about the nursery color scheme rather than traditional colors. If you plan on hanging the banner at a post birth baby shower, you may want to go with the classic pink or blue. Purples and greens remain a safe bet and sunshine yellow is a happy great contrasting color for any style of announcement.

If you choose to store the birth announcement banner, consider bringing it back out on baby’s first birthday. What a wonderful way to re-announce and celebrate the birth of your child.
