Modern Symbols for Your Baby Birth Announcement

We’ve talked about the classic symbols Associated with birth and babies but that doesn’t mean the more modern images aren’t an option. However modern the image, it doesn’t mean it can’t be personalized to suit your baby and your birth announcement needs. Here are a few of the latest trends in baby announcement images and symbols.

Peas in a pod. This is the usual choice when it comes to representing new twin babies boys or girls. It can be cute that’s for sure but it’s a little overdone. If your heart is set on using this symbolism, consider revamping it by having your children hold actual peas in the pod and featuring that in the birth announcement photo.

Cupcakes. Whether its weddings or babies these days, the cupcake symbol is all over the place. Unless the cupcake (“our little sweetie” )is your child’s nursery colors or is featured in a photograph with your child as a sort of miniature birthday cake, I say save this image for another occasion, like the first birthday.

Footprints and handprints. Very cute if they are actually the handprints and footprints of your own child, otherwise it seems sort of silly. Who wants an unknown child’s handprint on your birth announcement? Scan your child’s own prints into your hard drive and upload to the printer’s website.

Monkeys, zebras and other safari animals. I’m a fan of the use of wild animals on birth announcements (when your child hits 18 months you will understand how appropriate this is) but it needs to make sense. If your child’s nursery has a safari theme featuring it on your birth announcement is logical, if not it’s just a little odd. This is one to think carefully about before including.

Trains, planes and automobiles. Great for little boys first and second birthday invitations but not so relevant on the baby birth announcement. Unless the vehicle included on the card is a delivery vehicle, this doesn’t really make sense. Unless of course, mom or dad drive for a living, then it’s perfect.

When you are browsing the printer’s website looking for modern and up to date images for your baby’s birth announcement think about using designs that are relevant to you and your baby. The key thing in birth announcement images is making it personal.
