Baby Announcements

I’m all for the traditional birth announcement card and recommend printing up at least a few for close friends and family. But why not get more creative with your other friends and acquaintances? Thank-you cards can be boring but what about making your thank you card a gift and the gift tag your birth announcement?

Luggage tags are a great way to provide friends and family with a practical thank you note and combination birth announcement. Some online printers will actually create custom luggage tags from scratch at a reasonable price. Otherwise, you can create custom sticker labels of an agreeable size and attach them to tags you pick up at the office supply store.

Use the left side of the custom birth announcement luggage tag for birth statistics. Include the baby’s name, weight, length and date and time of birth. On the opposite side include a small picture of the baby or a baby appropriate piece of clipart. Choose colors that contrast the basic color of the luggage tag. Personally I think a cream luggage tag with brown lettering and a sepia tone photograph is a beautiful classy combination.

Attach your luggage tag birth announcement however you like. They can hang as necklaces around the necks of blue, pink or yellow teddy bears, act as the tag on a wrapped framed photograph of the baby, or any other gift or token you choose. Luggage tags can be hung from string next to the guest book at a post birth baby shower making them the perfect shower favors.

Like anything, now you have a baby the possiblilities are endless.
