If you really can’t find an online template to suit your birth announcement needs and you are the creative type with a little time to spare why not create your own birth announcement from scratch?  Designing your own announcement and uploading it to the printer’s website isn’t as difficult as it sounds and may be the way for you to create that perfect custom look.

Most of us don’t own fancy design software with which to create our own birth announcements.  Usually you only have a basic word processing or graphics program to work with. That’s not really a big deal if you know what basic color scheme, images and framework you want. Take a little time to get used to your software (find options, effects etc.) before beginning your design. Use your equipment and creativity to make the framework, text, color palette and theme for your child’s birth announcement.

If you don’t want to actually design your birth announcement on the computer, you could always hand draw or paint your design and scan it in. Be sure the images and design are completely dry then lay flat image down on a scanner. Copy the image to your c-drive in a compatible format and upload to the printers.

Don’t forget to finish your custom birth announcement with a photograph of your little darling. Complete all the editing of your photograph in your picture software before adding to your final design. You may want to crop the image to get rid of excess space or even tint the image to a black and white or sepia toned look. Editing your photograph in advance of your design will help you finalize your birth announcement quicker after uploading to the printer.

Unique birth announcements are hard to find these days. Despite the numerous templates out there, other parents are bound to pick the same basic designs and color palette as you. If you do the whole card completely from scratch the chances of anyone in the world having the exact same thing are slim to none. If you are up for the challenge, your child’s first greeting to the world can be as customized and as unique as they are.
