Collage Photo Birth Announcements

I’m a big fan of the collage photo when it comes to showcasing your little one. Children are busy creatures from day one and new parents spend most of their time taking photographs. I think the first few weeks of my son’s life I took an average of 100 photographs every day. These are great for the parents but a little more difficult to share with friends and family. And try and choose a single photograph? Impossible. And that’s where the collage photograph birth announcement comes into play.
Making a collage photograph really isn’t about quantity but quality. It is difficult to pick images for your birth announcement but anyone can get it down to 12, 10, 8 or even 6 pictures with a little time. Go through your photographs several times, weeding out doubles, blurs, bad color mixes and no expression images. Next go though and pull out anything that really makes you smile. Then take out any ones that are remotely similar (taken on the same day, have the same outfit or background image). By the time you do this, you start to see a smaller pile of photos in front of you. Just keep going until you have your top ten left.
Go to the online printer’s website and look through the collage birth announcement templates. If there isn’t something that works for you expand your search to greeting cards and note cards. I would suggest settling on two templates and splitting your photographs between the two. It’s a nice idea to choose one vertical and one horizontal design so you really have a wide selection of announcements.
Once the photographs and collage portion of your announcement are taken care of, relax, the hardest part really is over. Just place the child’s name somewhere in the collage and write the birth statistics inside. With the collage photo birth announcement, I would pick a simple inner design and a plain envelope. This birth announcement is all about the images and you can bet most of your announcements end up in a frame. You see? All that work is worth it.
Kind of like having children.
