Birth Announcements and Insertion Cards: The Christening

Christening of Rafalek Stawarz

The birth announcement is a great way to officially introduce your new baby to the world. It can also be a great way to announce the upcoming religious celebration of your child’s birth. The christening or baptism printed insert allows you to save money on postage and announce two important things in one go.

A christening or baptism or blessing ceremony (whatever specific religious ritual you do) is an occasion for respect, reverence and communion and the christening reminder should reflect this. Even if the birth announcement is bright and colorful full of loud design and photographic images, the christening insert really shouldn’t be. Think simple but elegant design, neutral or soft tone colors and easy to read but polished script.

Head over to the business card section of your online printer to find a template for your christening reminder card. Under the business card section, there are also appointment card templates which may work better for you. Of course you could go with a 5 by 7 inch postcard but the business card size will much more cost effective.

Simple black on white or white on black is a nice contrasting look for a christening reminder card. It will fall out of the birth announcement when it is opened and should be bold enough to catch the eye. Be sure to put it inside the announcement and not inside the envelope where it may be missed. Whatever colors you choose make sure they stand out for all the right reasons.

Stick to a simple text and image for your christening insert. The baby announcement is the star of the show and it shouldn’t be overshadowed by the insert card. Stick to times, dates, locale and a title such as “Baby Mia’s Baptism.” Consider getting magnetic business cards for your baptism reminder inserts to ensure they make it to the fridge door.

You know, next to the birth announcement until the frame is picked.
