Baby Shower Favors for Grown Ups
Baby showers can have themes and fluffy little decorations but how many of your guests want to take home a plastic baby bottle or bootie filled with candy as a favor? I’m in the process of creating adult treat bags for an upcoming baby shower and have decided to totally ignore the shower theme and create something folks will be happy to take home. I mean dinosaurs are cute for baby but what about the baby shower guests?
I love a homemade candle as a baby shower gift. Its practical, looks good and smells wonderful. I did however discover that sometimes buying candles in bulk is cheaper than making them from scratch. On the online auction sites I was able to find 100% beeswax votive candles for 65 cents apiece. I just added a paper label that reflected the shower theme and saved myself a lot of time and money. Insert in a glass votive holder or place in a cellophane bag with a shower themed label.
Homemade lip balms and hand creams also make for great baby shower favors. But again, it may be cheaper to buy them in bulk and create your own sticky labels for the outside. Take the time to price both ways and see what makes more sense for you. If you are working with a tight budget it may be worth making things by hand to save money if not time. Everyone always appreciates something from the heart.
Depending on the age of your baby shower guests you may want to consider spa treatments as baby shower favors. Packets of self tanning cream, face masks, manicure sets and facial scrubs arranged in small bags or baskets with custom labels gives any baby shower favor a touch of femininity. Most of all it provides guests with pretty thank you gifts that are pampering and practical. No more plastic booties!
In the case of this current baby shower I won several auctions and for around $2.25 per favor my guests will receive cute cellophane bags with a votive candle, packet of hand cream, a tube of lip gloss and a few packets of lotions and potions. I usually like to spend less per favor but for a small shower it’s just fine. A dino themed thank you label and I can give guests a grown up gift without forgetting the theme.
