Adding a Little Extra Sparkle to the Baby Shower
Often times I’ll attend someone’s baby shower or post-birth party and have to stop myself from ‘fixing’ some of the things around me. A good baby shower is all about the details. Folks may not remember the hand made favor boxes or ice cream bar, but doing it all together and doing it right can make a huge difference to the success of your event. Here are a few ways to add a little flair to your next baby shower.
It only cost a few bucks to put those little metallic sprinkles on tables and it give a polished look to your table design. You always notice when they are missing from a shower. Buy in bulk or get your Cricut owning friend to help you out.
Place metallic foil shiny side up or plain silver wrapping paper along the length of your buffet table. Center it so the table cloth is still visible underneath. Line your plates and pans along the length of the foil. This will just make your presentation more uniform and more appealing.
Balloons are a must at most baby showers as they fill in dull corners and add height and dimension to tables and seating arrangements. I’m the cheapest person I know but I would totally hit the dollar store the day before and get helium filled balloons rather than ‘regular’ balloons. Regular balloons are great on the floor of the small children’s party but look like a mistake at baby showers. Set a budget and have at it.
Use fresh plants in your table arrangements. How many showers have you attended when there may be a few booties filled with candy on the table and little else. Fresh plants can be bought small, in bulk and used to decorate the tables. Flowering plants add a little more and they can all go home as party favors.
Every time you attend a get together during your party planning process make mental notes about what you think your host did right and where they went terribly wrong. Remember those little details when planning your baby shower and your guests are bound to see the difference too.
